Favorite Gundam Series and Mobile Suit and why?

mine are
Mobile Suit Gundam for series b/c it has the best animation even though it’s the first series.
for Mobile suit i like for now Zaku II Char Custom and the Johnny Ridden Custom, and i like the strike Gundam with the IWSP and the Tallgeese III and Burning Gundam
basically b/c they all look cool.

Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam. I honestly thought there was never a better series to date. At least not yet. Zeta Gundam held a strong emotional story together so well, with lots of plot twists and surprises. It was also dark with the the way some characters acted toward things. Many of the characters were very unique and had very strong roles. It also gave you a new view point on newtypes and the ways they were treated. Some characters from Mobile Suit Gundam also come back early on, most notably Char who is in every single episode. Also it wastes no time with crap background stories and gets right to the point. It’s not the least bit confusing either. Also there isn’t that much whining as other Gundam shows. The mobile suit’s are also pretty stunning, but that’s my opinion. They look better in the Zeta Gundam movies with the up to date animation, but in the movies, the storyline is substantially changed. My favorites were Zeta Gundam, the Nemo and the Gundam MK II.
My only suggestion is that you watch Mobile Suit Gundam first to understand Zeta. Id you don’t, you’ll become easily confused while watching. I hope you enjoy it. And keep an eye out for Unicorn Gundam, the next series in the Gundam franchise. It looks promising and is bring back the U.C. Universe.
Oh I’m a huge gundam fan so i got a few fave series and a few fave mobile suits.Now for series or movie I like gundam wing endless waltz,gundam char’s counterattack,and gundam 00.So for in mobile suits I like gundam GP03S,Gundam RX-78-4,wing 0 custom,gouf custom,gundam 00 raiser,gundam [G],Nu gundam HWS,and gundam RX-79-BD-2.

Gundam F91 mainly because the main character Seabook isn’t quite as whiny as most Gundam protagonists, and he has an actual personality. Then there’s also the Darth Vader like villain Carozzo Ronah that’s just a bit more psychotic, I mean he tries to kill his own daughter and 90% of the human race.

Piloted by Zabine Chareux, once Gundam F91 made the mobile suits smaller making them a more practical and realistic size, they also made them faster. And just look at Zabine’s sleek black Gundam with that shot lance, you can see why some of the GN-XIII carried them in Gundam 00.
I tend to favor the UC time line and I believe 0080 War in the Pocket has one of the best stories in that time line. The OVA opens with a Zeon attack on a Feddie launch base. That opening lets you know you’re in for something a little more mature (… no MS is a one man Death Star… they all have a "grunt" feel to them… and there are no pretty boy, teenage pilots).
As the story progresses (no spoilers) you get to see that Zeon is not composed entirely of villains. The soldiers have a job to do… they’re not evil themselves, but they have some callous, elitist commanders. The animation holds up and the final battle is tragic. Even though one of the main characters is a little kid, he doesn’t grate on your nerves. The kid gets a front row seat to witness the stupidity and horror of war. I highly recommend this series to anyone who wants to see more than the pretty boy pilot zipping around in his top of the line MS that he just magically knew how to pilot… you know, the guy who "hates" war but kills hundreds if not thousands of others and laments how he has to grow up.
My favorite Gundam design is the Physalis from Stardust Memory. I love the bulkiness of the suit and the whole idea behind it. Gato (the pilot) is also a decent antagonist… noble but suffers from a sort of single-minded tunnel vision.
My favorite MS design happens to be the MS-18 Kampfer (from, where else, 0080). Check this bad boy out:

When loaded out, this thing is a monster for its time. I always thought the only reason it failed in its mission is because the pilot was foolish enough to under estimate his enemy and stand still long enough to be shot like an idiot (…if you know the story behind the Kampfer, it probably wasn’t the best move to let a heavy drinker pilot it, no matter how experienced he was).
I like what I saw in the other answers… the Gouf Custom certainly had a good showing in the 08th MS team. All good answers with points/opinions I agree with. Thanks for the opportunity to discuss one of my favorite interests.

I liked the Gundam SEED/Destiny series, because of the side stories, like Stargazer and Astray movies… Classics? I like Z GUNDAM series.
BUT I JUST FINISHED WATCHING GUNDAM OO last month, and man! It’s just way cooler than the SEED series, because the Celestial Being were able to unite the earth AGAINST ALL ODDS!
Besides, the graphics and animation of the Gundams are a step ahead, especially the hardware of Gundam 00 Raiser, and the Trans-Am Burst. I specifically like the huge BEAM SABER that Gundam 00 can wield through Raiser, even exceeding that of Strike Freedom being docked with METEOR.
Anyway, I LIKE ALL GUNDAM SERIES, even the SD GUNDAM FORCE. XD!!!!
