Should I Start A Mecha Collection?

Hi, I dont watch anime or read manga, but i love robots and love plastic figurines. The thing is, i really like how “Mechas” ,like gundam and transformers , look, but everytime i see a cool model they are always from a Japanese cartoon i have never heard of. I just want to start a collection (i have some old fashioned bots and some pokemon (because its very cool haha), comic figurines and some vinyl toy series (and some models from those vending machines)) but find it offputting that even if the figurine looks cool, i am not really a fan of its background , like i am with my comic figurines (not “action figures”, the expensive kind from DC Direct etc hehe) and i just find it annoying. I feel that i am not really engaged unless i am a fan of the series.

Anyway, should o start a mecha collection, solely on looks even though i don’t know a thing about them?

If it’s what you think will make you happy.
I have a sizable collection of Gundam models, most of which are the 1/144 scale. There are about 60 or 70 of them, yes a Gundam collection can get that insane. All ranging from the original Mobile Suit Gundam to the latest Gundam 00.

The prize of the lot is my 1/100 scale Gundam F91. Followed by the Fix Figuration of the Crossbone Gundam X-1 and X-2.
I’m now seeking for some from V Gundam.
