There was only one "original" gundam — Wing Gundam Zero — but it was never produced until Quatre went off the deep end.
After that came the Tallgeese — not a gundam by any means, but it was the next step in prototype MS design.
The first 5 gundams sent to Earth were all derived, in some form or another, from those two prototypes. They are Wing Gundam, Deathscythe Gundam, Heavyarms Gundam, Sandrock Gundam, and Shenlong Gundam.
The Epyon, of course, was later designed from data taken from the 5 "core" gundams.
