Related in name only.
Gundam Wing and Gundam Seed for that matter are a part of the Alternate Gundam series. Every Gundam series is divided up into it’s own era. Wing is the After Colony era and is not connected to the original or Seed. Gundam Seed is the Cosmic Era.
The original Gundam series is Universal Century and has a large number of spin-offs and sequels. Of which Wing, Seed and 00 are not a part of it. The Gundam series go as follows.
