What’s the importance of using a top/finishing coat on a gundam model?
I’ve started to build gundam models and I did some research on how people use top coats to finish off their models. I am wondering what does it do exactly? Whats the difference between gloss, flat, and semi-gloss? And is there an alternative for mr. top coat finishing spray? Thanks for your answers
p.s. if possible could any one provide pictures of the difference between a non coated model and a coated model?
The big reason some folks use top-coats, is to protect all your hard work on the plastic! Namely, to keep the paint from scratching off too easily. Some people use primers too, and I wonder how they manage to avoid filling in all the panel lines.
Other times, it’s because the model has a mix of gloss and flat paints. Rather than keep having the Gundam look like its paint is all mis-matched, they simply use a spray (or brush) topcoat to make it all look uniform.
