Ac is After Colony. In the Gundam Universe (or at least one of them), the people decided that the founding of the first space station colony was a significant enough event to restart the counting of the years from that event.
As far as I’m aware, the writers did this so a not to nail down how far into the future the shows are, and therefore never give a date in our calendar for the founding of the first space colony.
